Non-Emergency Medical Number

This number is to speak to someone if you need to:

  • discuss complex medical problems
  • discuss worries about a long-term condition
  • get end-of-life care, or report a death
  • report child protection or vulnerable adult concerns

This number is for reporting minor and non-emergency crimes, where immediate or high-priority response is not required, and life is not in immediate danger.

Samaritans

Whatever you’re going through, you can call the Samaritans any time, from any phone for FREE.

They offer a safe place for you to talk any time you like, in your own way – about whatever’s getting to you.​

They won’t judge you or tell you what to do, they’ll listen to you.

National Domestic Abuse Helpline

The National Domestic Abuse Helpline is a freephone 24 hour helpline which provides advice and support to women and can refer them to emergency accommodation.

The National Domestic Abuse Helpline is run by Refuge.

​There are translation facilities if your first language is not English. The Helpline also offers BT Type talk for callers with hearing difficulties.

Respect Men's Advice Line

Respect Men’s Advice Line is for male victims of domestic abuse.

Call free from landlines and mobile phones within the UK. Your call will not appear on itemised bills.

You can also call free from BT pay phones.

Childline

When you call Childline you’ll get through to a counsellor, they’re there to listen and support you with anything you’d like to talk about.

​Childline is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. So you can talk to them anytime. But they might not be able to talk for as long when it’s after midnight.

The Silver Line Helpline

The Silver Line Helpline is a free, confidential telephone service just for older people.

They provide friendship, conversation and support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
